Food Innovation District
The Hub is home to the proposed Food Innovation District, focusing on North Berkshire to develop regional agriculture, place making and local community. The District coordinates food-orientated businesses, services, and community activities to spur regional food system development and increase access to local and healthy food. The activities result in development of four key community and economic growth sectors - Wellness, Tourism, creative economy and lifestyle.
Based on the following five guidelines, a comprehensive review of planning, zoning, health code, and waste management systems is planned by the Town of Adams.
Designing place making infrastructure; management of public spaces; coordinating local agricultural, and improving zoning and permitting functions will spur economic growth.
This is done by linking local farms, restaurants, anchor institutions and community through events and activities at the Food and Wellness Hub and placemaking locations throughout North Berkshire.
